Ragnhild Utne is photographer and communication designer from Norway who currently resides in Longyearbyen, Svalbard. In 2015 she graduated with a BA in Photography from RMIT University, Melbourne. After gaining an interest in graphic design and being able to combine photography with design, she decided to pursue an MA in Communication Design. In 2017 she completed her Master’s at Ravensbourne in London.
Her featured project focuses on various methods of using visual information in order to better prepare foreign tourists before they go hiking in the Norwegian mountains, therefore reducing the number of mountain rescues. The information design created for her featured project aims to communicate knowledge about mountain hiking in Norway by promoting a representation of important information in a visual format. Important information must be easy to understand and retained in order to change tourists’ behaviour and encourage them to act according to the risks associated with hiking.
